The Health Department of Northwest Michigan has an opening for an additional, full-time Sanitarian position, based in the Gaylord office. This position will work primarily with the non community water supply and is heavily administrative in nature. The selected candidate will need to become proficient with the new EGLE software SDWIS (Safe Drinking Water Information System) and SWIFT (Safe Water Information Field Tool.)
In addition to the primary responsibilities listed below, the selected candidate will also assist the Type II Coordinator with other tasks and perform other Sanitarian duties when needed.
Primary responsibilities include 鈥�
- Maintain and update databases
- Maintain and update physical files
- Survey Entry (SDWIS/ SWIFT)
- Ensure certified operator compliance
- Issue annual/seasonal letters
- Monitor schedules
- Issue reminder notices and follow up
- Provide and assist in quarterly reporting
- Enter samples into databases
- Manage sampling contracts
- Conduct and manage transient surveys
Qualifications
Requirements for the position include possession of a bachelor鈥檚 degree, with a preferred major in Environmental Health, Science, Engineering, or related field.
